Annual Prayer Breakfast City of Diamond Bar
The Regional Chamber of Commerce – San Gabriel Valley recently hosted its Annual Diamond Bar Mayor's Prayer Breakfast, on the National Day of Prayer bringing together leaders from various faith communities to share their practice of prayer and mindfulness in daily life.
Representatives from diverse religious backgrounds, including Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, and Jews, gathered at the event to share insights on the importance of prayer and mindfulness.
Mayor Stan Liu of Diamond Bar took the stage as the keynote speaker, offering insights gleaned from personal experiences that have shaped his journey as a public servant. Reflecting on the theme of diversity and midfulness, Mayor Liu emphasized the power inherent in the coming together of individuals from diverse backgrounds and beliefs affirming "Today, as we come together from various backgrounds and beliefs, we are reminded of the strength that lies in our diversity. Each prayer offered, each moment of reflection, and each act of mindfulness enriches our community, making it a place where everyone is respected, every voice is heard, and every individual can thrive...."
Speakers included members of the multifaith community, each offering unique perspectives on finding peace and purpose through prayer and mindfulness practices. Various faith group harmonized with the attendees beginning with Interfaith Hymn “All are Welcome!” led by Patrick Zubiate, Director of Music, St. Denis Catholic Community Group of Diamond Bar. Other inspiring message of “peace in the world” was presented in a unique version of Zemirot by Cantor Hazzan Paul Buch of Temple Beth Israel, Pomona.
Members of the Arya Samaj of Southern California Group dressed in their traditional dress adorned the cultural beauty of the event. The BAPS Temple of Chino Hills provided Indian Chai Tea to enhance the flavor of the breakfast buffet. Representatives of Hsi Lai Temple of Hacienda Heights highlighted Buddha’s message of compassion towards our fellow humans and the environment.
The event provided attendees with an opportunity to reflect on the universal aspects of prayer and mindfulness, fostering a sense of unity and understanding among participants.
Overall, the Mayor's Prayer Breakfast served as a platform for dialogue and connection, highlighting the importance of spiritual well-being in the diverse communities of the San Gabriel Valley.
